Located in Uttarakhand, Haridwar and Rishikesh are holy cities that people visit annually for pilgrimage. Haridwar which means “the abode of Lord Vishnu” is located at a point when the Ganges River emerges from the Himalayas. North from Haridwar and surrounded by a forest canopy and the flowing Ganges is Rishikesh. The peaceful and relaxing atmospheres make it the perfect place for mediation and relaxation. About 240km from Rishikesh, is the lake resort of Nainital. Named after Goddess Naina Devi and located in Naini Lake, it is also known as the Lake District of Uttarakhand.

     

    Day 1 Fly to Dhangadhi Airport and drive to Haridwar

    You will take an early morning flight with Buddha Air from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi. Once you have landed at Dhangadi Airport, a driver will pick you up at the airport. The driver is also your travel guide and he will brief you on your travel route. As the drive is quite long, there will be stopovers for breakfast at Mahendranagar and lunch along the way.

    If you reach Haridwar by evening, you will proceed for the Ganga Aarti which starts after sunset at around 6pm. The aarti is performed on Har Ki Pauri ghat on the banks of the Ganges. However, if you do not reach on time for the aarti, or need to take a rest after the long drive, you can go for the aarti on the next day

    Day 2 Sightseeing tour of Haridwar

    You will need to get up early if you need to go for a Ganga snan (bath) and puja. After the puja, you will return to the hotel for breakfast and get ready for a sightseeing tour of Haridwar.

    Patanjali Yogpeeth is believed to be the world’s largest yoga institutes. The institution promotes the use of ayurveda and yoga and also offers yoga classes every day.

    Rishikesh is considered the “Yoga Capital of the World” and is also the birthplace of Ayurveda. You will feel a sense of tranquility as you walk through its streets.

    Day 3 Drive to Nainital and go for a sightseeing tour

    After a good night’s rest and breakfast in the morning, you will now drive to Nainital. The drive could take 6 hours, and you will have lunch along way. Upon arrival at Nainital, you will check-in at the hotel for a short rest.

    At the heart of the city is Naini Lake which is a scenic spot for a photo as it is surrounded by majestic mountain views. You can also try boating on the lake. Located along the northern side of this lake is the Naina Devi Temple (also known as Nanda Devi Temple). The temple is one of the 64 Shakti Peethas devoted to Goddess Sati. According to mythological legend, when Lord Shiva was carrying Goddess Sati’s mortal remains to Mount Kailesh, her eye fell at the spot where this temple is located.

    Day 4 Breakfast at hotel and depart to Dhangadhi Airport

    After a night’s rest at the hotel, you will drive from Nainital to Dhangadhi Airport to catch a Buddha Air flight back to Kathmandu. Breakfast is provided at the hotel, and you will have lunch along the drive to Dhangadhi Airport.

    Ganga Snan Extended

    You have the option to choose to go to Nainital or Dehradun. If you choose to go to Dehradun, package is extended by one more day.

    Day 3: Drive from Haridwar to Dehradun and go for a sightseeing tour
    After having breakfast, a short drive from Haridwar will take you to Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. Abundant with beautiful parks, gardens and temples, there are many places to visit in Dehradun like Lacchiwalla, Tapkeshwar Temple, Robber’s Cave, Clock Tower, etc.
    Dehradun is also a shopper’s paradise. There are arrays of merchandise to buy from the Paltan Bazaar, Tibetan Market, etc.

    Day 4: Drive from Dehradun to Mahendranagar
    After an early morning breakfast at the hotel, you will take about a nine hours’ drive from Dehradun to Mahendranagar. You can have your lunch along the way. Once you have reached Mahendranagar, you will check-in at the resort for a night’s rest.

    Day 5: Jeep Safari at Shuklaphanta National Park
    After an early morning breakfast, get ready for a jungle jeep safari at Shuklaphanta National Park. The park is named after the main grassland called Sukla Phanta found in its area. The park covers many different areas like grassland, riverbeds, wetlands and forests. These places are home mammals like the Bengal Tiger, Sloth Bear, and Indian Leopard – which you might spot during your safari.

    You will return to the resort for lunch and proceed to Dhangadhi Airport to catch your Buddha Air flight to Kathmandu.
